will he hears us.” 1 John 5: 14
Have you ever wondered how God keeps all of our prayers and petitions straight? It doesn’t seem the God would be able to process, let alone answers all the things on our hearts and in our minds. Yet we hear in our scripture that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. The good news is this: God hears you when you pray!
So why don’t we talk to God more? Open up with the needs in our lives or in the lives of others? I think very often, we wonder if we will have to correct words to pray. We think-what if I say something wrong? We might question whether our petitions are worthy of God’s time. We muse-my neighbor is struggling more than I am, I won’t bother God. We might even feel unworthy of God’s attention and care. We ponder-I haven’t been to church in a while. God won’t answer me. None of these situations are correct or true.
When we go to God with our prayers, there are a couple things that happen. First, God has promised to hear us. Second, when we don’t have the right words, God’s spirit will do the work for us. The Spirit of God will intercede with signs too deep for words. This means that God’s Spirit is going to let God know all those things that you might not know how to put into words yourself. Third, God always has time for you. You are God’s dear and beloved child. Speak up. You are worthy. Finally, there is no where you can go to hide from God. God will answer your prayers according to his will.
We are called to come before God, to ask, seek, and knock. The door will be opened to you. Take heart and be bold to make your requests known to God. God will hear you.
